NIU BODY Review (Pink Clay Mask, Cleanser, Serum)

When I first found NIU BODY, I was immediately drawn to their adorable canister packaging and the super relatable, beautifully colour-themed insta feed.

One of my favourite things to do is to support local brands, especially women-owned brands! So when I read about NIU BODY and how it was started by two young female entrepreneurs in Toronto, I felt even more inclined to learn about the products and try them myself.

NIU BOY recently celebrated their 3 year anniversary, so they are a budding brand with major success so far. You can find them in stores such as KOHLS, Riley Rose and Pacsun. You can also order online.

NIU BODY was so kind to partner with me for this post and send over some complimentary items. I put them to the test over the last couple of months, and the results are in! My skin is normally super oily, so I will be talking about how the products helped with my concerns and what my overall thoughts are on the product, quality, application, ease of use, etc.

I chose to try their pink clay mask, amino acid cleanser and glow serum. I felt intrigued by these products and curious how they would work for my oily skin type.

To watch my skincare routine with NIU BODY, you can see the TikTok I made here.

CLEANSER

The first item I tried out was the Purify amino acid gel cleanser. It claims to have an advanced zero-alcohol formula that is loaded with natural amino acids and nourishing aloe vera - proven to hydrate and repair your skin without stripping it of its natural oils.

I have to say, I LOVED this cleanser. It made my (normally) oily skin feel extra fresh and left my skin feeling smooth and matte (just how I like it). I love how it contains Aloe as well, which has amazing moisturizing benefits, so it won't dry out my skin. The key to oily skin is keeping it balanced - and this product really does help with that! This cleanser also contains salicylic acid, which combats and prevents blemishes (which I am used to getting all the time!).

Overall, it's a very gentle product and does it's cleansing job very well for my skin type.

PINK CLAY MASK

The next product I put to the test was their Soothe pink clay mask. It's in a powder format, so you need to add water, honey or yogurt in order to get it activated.

After cleansing my skin, I mixed the powder mask with water and painted it on with a clean foundation brush. I applied an even layer all over my face, but mostly concentrated on my T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). I waited for about 15 minutes before rinsing off, and was pretty pleased with the results.

One thing I love about clay masks is how CLEAN and SMOOTH my skin feels afterwards. This mask does just that. One thing that I don't love about clay masks is how they can be hard to wash off my face / need extra scrubbing and sometimes clog my drain. This clay mask however, DOES NOT do that - and I was so happy with how easy it washed off my skin.

The only downfall of this product is that you need to put in a little more work to actually add the active ingredient (like water) to prepare for use and this can be a little tricky to travel with and add an extra step (that can be messy, too!).

SERUM

This serum was the last step to my NIU BODY routine and I have to say - I'm obsessed! It's probably my new favourite serum.

It's a light-weight formula, highly-concentrated with jojoba oil, camellia seed oil is high in vitamins A, B, D and E. It claims to help minimize the appearance of pores and balances oily T-zones due to its nearly identical chemical structure to sebum (which is exactly what I need!).

I have enjoyed using this serum immensely. I feel that my skin is brighter (less dull), clearer (less breakouts) and definitely brings out a glow in my complexion.

The blend of essential oils also makes this serum give a true sensory experience that relaxes me right away. I always include it in my bedtime skincare ritual now!

MY SUMMARY

I have to say that I am a huge new fan of NIU BODY. Not just the packaging/branding, but the products themselves are amazing!

My favourite products are definitely the cleanser and serum! I use the serum everyday and I'm totally hooked. When I was at Riley Rose in Florida, I even spotted it in the store and it was very cool to see a Toronto brand in one of my favourite US makeup spots.

Which product would you want to try? Let me know in the comments!
