Best (Pink) Products for Oily Skin & Scalp – Beauty Sense Picks

It's been a minute since I wrote a blog post here, but I'm back with a special article in collaboration with BeautySense.ca

Oily Skin Struggles

If you struggle with oily skin and an oily scalp, trust me—I feel you. My skin is always slightly oily unless thoroughly prepped, and my makeup sometimes melts off throughout the day. On top of that, my hair always seems to scream for a wash every single day. My roots get excessively greasy in no time, leaving me frustrated with the unkempt, "dirty hair" look after just one day. It can feel like a never-ending battle!

I'm always looking for great skincare + haircare products to help my oily skin type, and I was excited when I came across some intriguing options from BeautySense.ca to test out.

Higher Education: DOUBLE MAJOR® Hyaluronic Acid Gel Moisturizer Review

The first thing that caught my eye was the fun pink-and-purple packaging—even the moisturizer formula itself is pink! The best part? It performs exceptionally well and has an amazing gel consistency. It's lightweight, oil-free, and perfect for oily skin. I’d describe the feeling it leaves on the skin as refreshing. If you have combination or dry skin—especially during winter—I’d recommend using this as a summer product. Personally, I prefer a heavier moisturizer at night, so I mainly use this one in the morning or during the day under SPF and/or makeup.

This formula is packed with ingredients that work to hydrate, nourish, and brighten the skin. Hyaluronix features three different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid for maximum penetration, while squalane provides weightless hydration, balances oil production, and reduces the appearance of pores, improving skin tone and texture.

I had never heard of Higher Education before, but the brand actually looks so fun. Higher Education is a clean beauty brand, and claims to create A+ formulas packed with more of the good stuff, less of the clutter, and none of the BS. Never tested on animals. Made in the USA. They use proven ingredients like retinol, antioxidants, and fractionated melanin so your skin can stay healthy, protected, and glowing all day!

I've been using this moisturizer for the past 30+ days and I have no complaints.  It smells good, works well, and I'm obsessed with the fact that it's pink. It's truly pink skincare that actually works. Follow up with your daily SPF and you're good to go! The moisturizer box contained this SPF mini as well - such a bonus!

Coola: Rōsilliance® Tinted Moisturizer Organic Sunscreen SPF 30 - Fresh Rose Review

I haven't tested many tinted sunscreens before, but I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. I wanted something that I could wear with or without makeup, blended with my natural skin (especially in between fake tanning when I wanted a glow), and a formula that wouldn't make my oily skin stand out and look too greasy.

I think it's pretty common for sunscreens to be hit or miss, and everyone has different things they look for in an SPF. I personally loved how this one by Coola applied. The formula glides nicely on the skin and blends in so well. I loved the tinted look. I wore this sunscreen with and without makeup, and it worked well, but I had a hard time controlling the oil throughout the day. I liked the product on my skin the best when I used a primer before the SPF and finished off with some setting spray.

The other thing I noticed about this product (that I'm still trying to resolve) is the tiny bit of pilling that happens, especially in my neck area. Perhaps I rub the product too much there or don't prep the skin on my neck well enough in my skincare routine (before the SPF), but it does tend to pill, and I wasn't a huge fan of it for that reason. I've been using this product for a few weeks now so I'll continue to test it out!

Nuxe Paris: Insta-Masque Exfoliating + Unifying Mask Review

Next up, this exfoliating mask by Nuxe Paris! And yes, of course, it's another pink product.

This exfoliating mask combines the benefits of Rose floral water with Macadamia oil and a natural-origin fine exfoliating powder to exfoliate and even out the skin in just 2 minutes. Its ultra-sensory gel texture transforms into an oil when massaged for a very gentle scrub.

I love how this treatment provides gentle exfoliation without being too harsh on my skin. The scent is amazing, which makes using it even more enjoyable. I've been using it once or twice a week, depending on my skin’s needs. After each use, my skin feels incredibly smooth and soft, almost buttery. I’ve also noticed it seems to help prevent breakouts, particularly on my chin and neck.

It is really important to exfoliate - especially if you have oily skin!

Oil is very beneficial for oily skin because it can help regulate sebum production, restore the skin's barrier, and provide nutrients. That's why I was so curious to try a scalp oil to see if it would balance my hair better and have my roots looking clean for longer than just one day!

Not only do my roots get super greasy one day after hair washing, I also struggle with flakes and build-up. I feel like my hair needs a reset once in a while!

I had never tried a product like this before, let alone a scalp oil in general, but I was thrilled to come across this oil-to-foam formula in a cute pink bottle by Amika.

'Reset' by Amika is an oil-to-foam purifying pre-wash that breaks down product build-up, absorbs toxins, and refreshes the scalp. It's great for all hair types, especially those in need of a deep cleanse for their scalp. You apply it to dry hair, massage to distribute, wait about 2-5 minutes, then add water to transform the oil to a milky lather.

I was impressed by how clean my scalp felt, and definitely hydrated. I can't say it solved my greasy roots after one day, but the immediate results are great.

Oribe: Serene Scalp Exfoliating Scrub Review

It was a treat to finally try Oribe! I've thoroughly enjoyed this product and let me tell you why.

The scent is incredible - very earthy and fresh. The packaging is stunning. Love the sleek pink bottle, and gold fonts, and even the design of the product deposit is nice. You can apply it directly to the roots of your hair to get a close scrub going right away.

This formula contains salicylic acid it’s advertised as a dander exfoliant but you can certainly use this if you have an oily scalp with build-up. The only issue I foresee is perhaps trying to get all of the product out once this gets low. At this price point, you want to get your money's worth!

Overall, the scrub is gentle, yet effective. It makes my scalp feel extra clean! If anything, this product helps my scalp feel less greasy for longer. I can get away with two days of no hair washing when I use this (when I usually have to wash my hair every day). No more flakes or build-up either!

Overall Rating: 9.5/10
