5 Years Later: Toronto Apartment Update

October 1st 2015 was a beautiful sunny day, and I woke up feeling very nervous and excited. I was ready to take my cat Olivia on a whole new adventure with me, away from our little hometown. I was 19 years old at the time; and moving into my very own apartment in downtown Toronto, ready to attend fashion school. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since that day!

I still have the same furniture; a white Ikea makeup table, an Ikea kitchen table, two side/end tables (one I painted pink), a cream coloured couch, two large dressers and my little nail polish drawer stand. Things are decorated a little differently around here now - and I’ve accumulated A LOT more stuff, but I’m still very in love with this apartment.

I’ve gained true independence here, made a lot of memories with my cat, dealt with a cockroach situation more than once, had many friends over to stay on weekends, had many late night staying up working on projects, taken lots of photos here and experienced lots of firsts.

One of the best things that have happened to me is being able to move into this little studio apartment in the city and start my own life apart from my family. It’s been a learning and growing experience. I’ve come to depend on myself more than ever and feel like a real adult. I’ve been financially independent, making my own rules and living my life in all shades of pink around this place.

I’m so very thankful to call this space my home for the last 5 years and I intend on making many more memories here to come. The place has worked very well for Olivia and I.

Here’s to more work from home days and girls’ nights in!

Thanks for reading today!
