Are Three Ships Beauty's 'Brighter Days' Eye Masks Actually Biodegradable? Full Review + Experiment

One of Three Ships Beauty's more recent product launches is Brighter Days, a jar of eye masks (30 sets) that claim to be 100% biodegradable.

I put these to the test in two ways:
1. Do they provide the benefits that Three Ships advertises?
and 2. Are they actually biodegradable?

I'm going to share my honest thoughts on both things here in the article!

On the Three Ships website, it says that these eye masks help visibly de-puff, brighten and hydrate the delicate under eye area in just 10 minutes—without the need for excess plastic waste.

The magic (well, its science) comes from Red Algae Extract, a potent antioxidant and hydrating ingredient that allows the masks to adhere to your skin and break down when you’re done using them. They've also included up-cycled Avocado Extract, which helps brighten the appearance of dark circles and reduce the appearance of puffiness, leaving eyes that look refreshed, energized, and ready to take on the day. Formulated for all skin types!

Use them by applying to clean skin and leave on for 10-20 minutes. Remove eye masks and gently pat any excess serum into skin. When finished, place the used hydrogels in warm-hot water for 10 minutes—they’ll dissolve and the water can simply be poured down the drain.

Do not apply directly on eye. Test on patch of skin before applying to face. Keep out of reach of children and away from direct sunlight. Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients.

In my experience so far after a few uses, I am LOVING what they do for my under eyes. I noticed instant brightness after removal, leaving my skin quenched and hydrated. The more I used these, the less I notice my dark circles as much and I love using them right before applying makeup and on days where I know it'll be a long one or especially when I have a photo shoot.

I would highly recommend these to anyone who needs a boost of moisture under their eyes, wants to feel the spa-like treatment at home or is in search of bringing more brightness to their under-eye area.

In terms of the biodegradable aspect, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they are, in fact, 100% biodegradable. Inset shocked emoji here! I did the experiment on TikTok to show the proof and you can watch that here.
