My New Skincare Routine: Unexpected Products that Work for Oily Skin

Anyone else have super oily skin and tried just about every salicylic acid face wash and at-home DIY to help with the problem? I've recently switched up my skincare routine to try some new remedies and I am excited to share these findings with you guys!

First up are these cleansers from LANEIGE. The reason for oily-ness can be because your skin is actually dehydrated and therefor, trying to produce more oils to replenish the skin's moisture. I changed from an abrasive baking soda face wash, to something more simple and gentle with moisturizing benefits. I'm loving it so far! I use the pink one for my face, and the green Multi Cleanser for my chest, shoulders and back in the shower.

Okay and then there's honey! I have recently been incorporating raw organic honey into my skincare routine. 2-3 nights a week I will apply the honey all over my face and leave it on for a good 15-20 minutes before rinsing. There are so many benefits to using honey!

Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it's great for acne treatment and prevention. It's full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down aging. It is also extremely moisturizing and soothing, so it helps create a glow.

Honey has been known to lighten skin, and its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial compounds help to decrease the appearances of scars and increase healing and tissue regeneration. The hydrating properties of honey help revive skin cells, reduce redness, and improve skin texture. This is great for me with oily skin - because I still experience quite a bit of acne, breakouts, and redness in my skin.

I just picked this honey up at a local bee farm - but you can also purchase unpasteurized honey online!

This next one may sound strange - but using oil to fight oil has been proven to work! I use castor oil.

Just soak a clean towel in warm water, wring out excess, and use to massage face gently for 5 minutes. Pour 1-2 teaspoons castor oil on the soaked cloth and massage face in gentle circular motions for 1 minute. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with clean towel. Splash with cold water to close the opened pores and pat dry again.

Also try applying 2 drops castor oil all over face and leave on over night. In the morning, wash with with a mild face wash followed by mild exfoliating cleanser. Repeat this nightly or as often as you'd like.

Results will start showing within a week! It really helps keep oily skin at bay.

The next items I've been loving are the water bank serum and gel cream by LANEIGE. These two work great together and leave skin feeling super soft and smooth. This also helps relieve my oily skin and I use them together almost every night after I wash my face.

Have you ever heard of these to help oily skin? What works for your skin type?

I have been using these for the last couple weeks and would be happy to share my results if you wanted to see. Let me know what you think!
