Don't Fall For The Fear

Fear has always been present in my life. Whether it's feeling scared of what people will think of me, fear of failure or being scared of facing my fears in general (something as simple as a cockroach, haha); fear always has a way of showing up in one way or another.

The fear doesn't seem to go away, but I never want fear to completely run my life. I admit, fear has somehow crept in and taken over at times before, but I have been trying my best to stop it. Self doubt, shame, fear, overthinking, etc have been negative things that constantly consume my brain in my spare time. This isn't healthy, and I've had to consciously make some adjustments that I'm still working on to this day.

Here are 3 things that have helped me deal with my fear:

1. Facing it head-on

Don't overthink, just count to 3 and do what you need to do in order to face the fear. Scared to send that pitch? Hit send anyways. Fearful of rejection? Shouldn't stop you from putting yourself out there. Can't go in the room because of a spider? Get something to kill it with! It's so much easier said than done, but as soon as I started putting these things into practice, I noticed a huge difference. The fear doesn't necessarily go away, but you do gain confidence in yourself. You learn that you can rely on yourself to face bigger and greater fears as they come up.

2. My faith

I have been a Christian all my life, and raised going to church every Sunday. Just about two years ago, I found a church in Toronto and started attending again (after a while of not going). I am still working on my relationship with God, but knowing that He is in control and has a plan for me can take the fear away and also give me hope that everything will be okay, and there is no need to worry.

3. Talking about it

At times, the fear can just be something that is all in your head, so sometimes the best thing to do is just talk about it. Putting my fears out in the open and getting encouragement or words of advice from others can be very helpful and therapeutic. If you don't have a friend of family member to listen, there are always resources available!

Today's look is this soft pink + black combo that I have been loving for fall. The leather skirt is a little too cold to be wearing without tights right now, but the light pink denim jacket and basic black turtleneck have definitely been on repeat lately! Also - who else is loving the pearl headband trend?

Thanks for reading today!
