My Favourite NYX Products

NYX is one of my favourite brands for a few different reasons - and I have a few favourite products that I've accumulated over the last couple of years. 

BITE Beauty Matte Lip Creme

I was SO excited to find out I would be receiving the BITE Beauty box from Influenster this past month. Inside, there were three shades of matte lip creme. I fell in love with them, of course - but here's some more information in case you were wondering about the brand!

Their Facebook page explains what they do, perfectly -- BITE Beauty proves you don’t have to sacrifice performance for a product made from nature. BITE contains the age-defying antioxidant Resveratrol and organic shea and fruit butters for a moisture-rich feel. All of the colourants that make BITE so richly pigmented are food grade approved.

BITE products are available exclusively at Sephora USA and Canada and via the Sephora.com website.

In the specific package that I got, there were three shades in matte lipstick. 

Cava - A light nude shade that is sure to go with just about any look

Red Velvet - A bright cherry red, perfect for the holidays

Glacé - A deeper dusty rose, almost brown shade that would be perfect to throw on for a night out

Summer Essentials from Bioderma

Bioderma has recently sent me some great summer essential products! Two of which are sun burn protection, and the other is a moisturizing tanning spray. 

All three of these products are perfect for summer and Bioderma never fails to impress me with their skin care items! I was super excited to put these to the test, with all of the beautiful, hot weather we have been having in Toronto lately. 

I have a lot of moles and freckles that have needed to be checked (and even removed before!) and have found my skin very sensitive to the sun over the past couple of years. Having a reliable sunscreen is very important to me.

The Photoderm Spray SPF 40

$29.95 for 200 ml at your local drug store

This stuff is an effective way to protect your skin against the harmful effects of the sun and risks of cellular damage and combats premature aging. It has an extra light texture and easily rubs into my skin. I thought it was a pretty decent coverage!

The only thing was - I am not a huge fan of the spray bottle itself, and I found it to be a little messy while trying to get the lotion out of the bottle. It isn't always easy to squirt out!

The Photoderm Milk SPF 50+

$27.95 for 100 ml at your local drug store

I absolutely love this stuff - from the bottle concept to the product itself! I love how it is such a high SPF and I feel confidant wearing this to protect my skin from the sun. I wore it while I was out and about last week on a day to the beach and running around in the super hot sun, and I had no burn at the end of the day! It felt amazing to have such a good protectant on. I would suggest to reapply throughout the day though, as one use may not do the job for as long as you are outside. 

Moisturizing Tanning Spray

$19.95 for 150 ml

This stuff is so neat and I have never used anything like it before! 

It comes out almost clear looking, but I actually did see results after a few days of use. Its super cool and smooth feeling on my skin, and dries instantly! There is ZERO traces of colour transfer and it gives a pretty even finish. 

Keep in mind to spray about 20 cm away from your skin, and apply one a day for 3 days, and then once every 2  days, and only once a week to maintain the tan after that.

China Glaze Craze: My Top 5 China Glaze Polishes

I have always been a fan of China Glaze polishes! Today I'm sharing my absolute top favourite 5. 

1. "Techno"

Make super glittery statement! I love putting this over top of base colours. The sparkles are huge and reflect light really well.

2. "White on White"

This is such a good opaque white! One or two coats and your good to go. Perfect for sung as a base for the ombré effect over top. 

3. "Strong Adhesive Base Coat"

I use this as a base coat every time I paint my nails! Protective and makes the polish last a little longer than usual. 

4. "Deviantly Darling"

This mermaid aqua blue is super pretty and reflects a bit of green. I love how it has a metallic-like shine! 

5. "Purple Panic"

Pink or purple? Either way it;s suer bright and pretty. I have this on my nails right now (in the photos!)

YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara Review

I was sent this product to review a little while ago. Even though I do have a go-to drug store mascara, I am always up for trying new things. So I thought, why not?! 

I tried this mascara out and I was looking for the following things: 

Does it give my lashes length? 

Does it give my lashes more volume?

Does it apply nicely?

Does is last all day with no smudging? 

I put it to the test and wore it on some of my busiest days! Read all of my thoughts below...

This mascara is very black, and when applied, it's easy to do and coats my lashes perfectly. I can almost feel the wand lengthening and darkening them one by one. My first impression was: "This is such a great mascara!"

I did one coat, but went back in for a second. It didn't seem to be giving me the volume I am used to with my usual wand. 

One of the first thing I noticed was the gorgeous gold packaging but hello - it's Yves Saint Laurent, so of course it's beautiful! 

I used this product a few times and thought it was great overall, but it was lacking the volume and I missed not having the security of my waterproof mascara. 

Overall, here are the answers to my questions:

Does it give my lashes length? 

YES!

Does it give my lashes more volume?

Not a lot!

Does it apply nicely?

Very much so. 

Does is last all day with no smudging? 

No, but if you were to rub your eyes accidentally, or get a little water in them - it will smear or run.

Review: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade

Today I'm going to be reviewing the ABH Dipbrow Pomade! This stuff is super popular! After trying a handful of brow kits by various brands and the ABH brow wiz pencil, I decided to see what all the buzz is about with this pomade!

I chose the shade dark brown for my brows. I think it matches pretty perfectly! The container the product comes in is also nice but when you look at it from the side, it almost looks empty! Totally deceiving at how much product you really get in here, but I've heard that these last a long time!

I apply my brow pomade with a thin brow liner brush by Quo. I purchased this at my local Shoppers Drug Mart. It works perfectly for the type of application I need and is also slightly less expensive than the original ABH brush.

I usually start the process of my brows at the bottom and out towards the tail. I then fill them in, and use any leftover product near the front part of my brow, where I want it to be less dark and look as gradual as possible.  

The thing about this product is that a little goes a long way! You literally only have to tap the brush to get the right amount of pomade on your brush. Overall, I am loving this product so far and I've only been doing it for one week!
